None. Save your money and try a different county. One that isn't going down the tubes.

Snort.

lol..u know if I had to do it over again, I would move to Howard County...seriously. MC has changed so much so fast..

Agree. School administration has not kept up with changes and not addressed issues like overcrowding.

Neighborhoods:

Potomac Woods
Fallsmead
Rockshire
College Gardens
Horizon Hill
Fallsgrove
Historic Rockville
brand new development by Rio shopping area

I wouldn't go to Olney or Gaithersburg areas (although I love those locations) I would stay as close to 270/495 area if possible. Nothing further up than exit 6 on 270. Past there is where the traffic will be torture for you.

I'd stick to Rockville, Kensington, North Bethesda.

Agree, a commute from the Kentlands, or the QO area (as other posters have suggested) will be killer down to NW DC unless she leaves at 6 a.m.

Rockville in the Fallsmead or Lakewood area is nice, and close to 270.

I live in Montgomery Village and get down to DC, NW, in about an hour+ leaving at 7am. However I do use the HOV lanes as I have to drop off the kids at school in DC.

Rockville's one thing; commuting to DC is another.

I live in Brookeville.

Anonymous wrote:Hi Everyone - My family is moving to Montgomery County. We haven't bought a home yet, but my husband works in Rockville, and I'll be working in NW DC. We can't afford Bethesda or Potomac, so we're looking for recommendations on areas that have good schools, but are a bit more affordable than Bethesda or Potomac (which would be ideal, but not realistic). Thanks for any advice you can give.

On a side note, I've also heard that it may be possible to enroll kids in any county schools, not just the ones you are assigned to based on your address. That sounds too good to be true, but I'd be interested to hear the reality of that - if there is any!

Depending on budget, definitely Kensington. Different sections of Kensington feed into different school districts so just be aware but the prices are adjusted for the different school districts. Two sections go to Bethesda school clusters an one goes to a silver spring school district.

You may consider Beverly Farms elementary. It feeds to Hoover and then Churchill high. Houses in the neighborhood goes for about 500-650k. It is off Montrose road so easy commute for you and husband.
