Seriously? I'm not pp but I'm European and I find it so offensive when people ask that if someone only showers a certain amour if time a week or doesn't shave legs/armpits.
When I grew up, we had to bath/shower every day, or every two days. My parents showered daily.
This is such an offensive stereotype. Most Europeans I know shower regularly.

If she smells and looks clean, it is enough. My kids didn't shower more than that until they hit puberty and then magically they started showering once or twice a day.

Sorry, kids this age do need to bathe much more frequently. As PP said, maybe you and she can't smell or see it, but probably others can. Also, my kids have had friends with obviously greasy/dirty hair. We always wondered if no one told them that by this age, they really need to wash their hair every day, or nearly so.

I'm sorry. I know what it's like to do battle.

I have 11 year old boy/girl twins. They bathe everyday and have since they were infants. It is a relaxing ritual after a long day. They can choose whether they want a bath or shower. My daughter prefers showers and uses her favorite bath gels. I hear her at times singing in the shower. Unless we are in a hurry, I don't rush her or him. My son likes baths. He doesn't use soap much so I put lots of bath gel in his bath to make sure he gets clean. He likes to soak and I hear him talking when I pass by. I can tell he is just unwinding. Both twins play sports so they stink by the end of the day. And, girls need to bathe more than boys because they start to smell musty in the vaginal area around 9 and 10 and certainly by 11. PP, you may not smell your DD but I bet others do. She needs to bethe daily.

My daughter gave me a hard time about showering until age 12, and now at 14 she absolutely hates to miss her daily shower. I do think by 11 or 12 more than 2x/week is often necesaary for hygeine.

I also hate showering, mostly because I hate dealing with my long hair when it's wet. I don't want to cut my hair short, so i only wash my hair every other time and use dry shampoo or baby powder if needed. I think my mom had to fight with me to shower more at that age, whereas my little sister loved showering and took one every morning. I doubt she is going to start liking it, but you really should keep pushing for her to shower more.

That must be tough for the teachers.

FYI, kids start smelling well before they visibly hit puberty. I imagine the 10 year old is not very pleasant to be around all the time.

We do showers on Sunday, Monday, Wed, and Thursday. It works well enough and no one has complained that she smells.

I understand hating to shower. I've hated to shower my whole life. I hate being cold and hate being wet. It drove my mother crazy. She's unlikely to grow out of this...you just have to force her. That said, I don't think every day is necessary, but every other day should be the goal. Not every kid smells, just like not every adult smells. You would know if she smelled (or ask a good friend to be honest w/ you to be sure).
