Here is a compromise. 2 years in what you consider a "bad public school" will not damage your child. If it really sucks, then go to private in a couple of years.

That was my strategy and eventually I liked the public so much that we stuck with it. Now kids are in magnet ms and hs. Seriously, give yourself 2 years and then get out if you are still unhappy.

Sometimes it takes the internet hive to tell you what you know but don't want to believe. I'm sorry that you don't have better options, but as you describe the situation, you just don't.

It is not a bad school. MoCo has some of the best teachers in the country. You have just taken against it for a bunch of reasons that don't make much sense, like you think there will be another case of child abuse there and not somewhere else. You shouldn't expect people to sympathize with you.

I also don't know how you rack up 35K in debt to the IRS without making some seriously questionable decisions.

OP, you post about panicking over bills arriving and the phone ringing. Do you expect people here to be able to find money in your budget for private school?

My only thought was can you take any extra time to be a room parent while she gets used to the new school?

Are we supposed to put her in a school that we are in no way comfortable with?

You have to put her in a school that you can afford. You cannot afford the school that you have chosen. If you cannot tolerate the school you are zoned for, you have to look for a cheaper school option. What are you paying for school tuition, where in Rockville do you live and where do you each work? There are many options out there, maybe one of them is a better alternative for you. The best option is to put her back in the public school you are zoned for, cut all costs that you possibly can so that you can pay off your debt and stop paying interest which is back-breaking. After you pay off the debt, you should wait a few years to bank and save as much as possible so that in later years, you will have more options available to you. But if you continue down this road, you are likely heading for a place where you will have no options and may even lose you home. Is your private elementary school education for your daughter worth the ruination of your entire family?

You can't afford what you are doing, so you need to find another alternative that is cheaper.

OP, you kinda made your own bed here. You engaged in the behavior that got you in trouble with the IRS. You chose the rental that is zoned for the particular school you don't like. You entered into a two year lease. You developed a lifestyle that you can't afford. People can't make this better for you and, frankly, there's not much you can do about this stuff except to live through it and pull your kid from private. If you feel the school isn't good enough, provide her with supports. Supports are far cheaper than many private schools. But, seriously, getting mad at people for telling you what you knew before you posted isn't going to get you anywhere.

And, people are right, molesters are everywhere, teachers are overextended everywhere (except in small privates), most public schools are overcrowded with too many kids to a class. It's reality.

Jesus. Fine, OP. Post a list of your monthly expenses and we'll go from there.

Okaaaay. Well, I went to the Toyota dealership and found the handling clunky, the styling prosaic, and the fabric bucket seats to not be very comfortable on the Corolla. Got a Benz instead but the $550 monthly payments are KILLING ME!

So, what's your point, OP?

I know you're not comparing buying a car to a child's well-being and education?

Oh, wait. You are.

That's helpful.

It sure is. Both cars get you from point A to point B, allow you to arrive at work on time after your morning commute and a Corolla is a FINE car for any purpose except to show off. A public education is similar. Boatloads of people have gotten fine educations in public school, and lord knows private spits out their fair share of drug-addled losers.

Private school is VERY much like getting a fancy car.

Now, a jalopy that breaks down by the side of the road should be avoided--and there are equivalent public schools which should be avoided too.

People are giving you helpful advice, OP. Switching to public will solve your problem. You clearly don't want to hear it.
