I'm new to the area so I can't comment on the other places, but we like "Cafe Asia" in Clarendon. Very nice atmosphere, feels squeaky clean, and I like the food.

I can't tell you if it's "real" or "Americanized" food, but if you look at the menu, you'll be able to tell.

There are too many kinds of authentic Chinese. Szechuan, Hong Kong (Cantonese), Taiwanese? Hunan? They are all similar but there are some slight differences. Like if you don't like spicy, why bother going to Szechuan style.
Fortune by Seven Corner's and Miu Kee are good Cantonese style restaurants.
Montgomery County has a huge Chinese population from China so they have many options for Chinese food. Fairfax is mostly Vietnamese although southern Vietnamese extends their menu to Cantonese style food because there are Vietnamese that are mixed ethnically with Chinese.

If you want an adventure, go to Joes Noodle House in Rockville. It is "real" Chinese, much to the dismay of my friends

Meiwah (one in Chevy Chase, one 1200 New Hampshire Ave) is pretty tasty. Although it may be more PF Changy than the latter.

Miu Kee, Full Kee, XO. All open on Xmas.

As well, Vinh Kee could not be described as "squeaky clean". As someone who love a hole in the wall with great food the interior of this place was a bit too much for even me.

Only Chinese place open on Christmas? Are you living in a hole?

Ping in Shirlington might work, though its not quite in the area. It's right by the movie theater though - you could make a night of it!
