If he's a Junior, won't he have his father's middle name?

Please keep up. OP's first son is a junior. She is talking about naming her second son.

Yes, but that was a stage name and originally Smith was his last name.

OP, I think it's fine.

sort of +1 but I wouldn't put it that strongly. Mostly because I assume he's trying to be objective and doesn't think it sounds ok; maybe because Smith is a very generic name due to it being very common.

I think it's completely fine, and I think it is nice.

My son's middle is my last name (I'm a woman). My middle is my mother's maiden name. My mother's middle is her grandmother's maiden name, which is the same as my brother's middle name.

20:47 here. No, didn't use smith at all. First name we gave to DS doesn't work with smith, unfortunately.

We used my last name (not "Smith") for both children's middle names.

DS1 has my last name as a middle name, DS2 got my middle name, also a family name, for his.

My maiden name is smith too. I really wanted to use smith as a first name for my DS but DH was strongly opposed.

My DD has my maiden name as her middle name. It's a very surnamey name, and I think it sounds great.

Do it.

My last name is DD's middle name. Go for it. Do what makes you happy.

I was actually going to post it only makes sense if it's your maiden name, but I'd do it
