Do you live in the DC region? I could see no central air up in New England or out west but, around here, I would die without it. You guys are tough!

1961 Rambler. Stone + Brick. Hideous.

And the original, minuscule bathrooms: one each in pink, blue and yellow.

I hate one-floor living, at least in a house this small.

The people we bought from were clearly color blind or really, really into ugly colors so every square inch needs painting.

The kitchen. Oh, the kitchen. Dark little cave with BLACK appliances. And horrible puke colored paint on the walls. And cheap, ugly cabinetry.

There's so much I want to fix that I am paralyzed with indecision.

We figure I've got about $200K in fixes. And it'll still be an ugly 60s rambler.

I have lived with the same carpet that I have hated for 15 years.
First it was let's wait for kids to ruin it. Then the pets were almost dead - then we got new pets.
I'm sure we can afford new carpet, but now I don't want the hassle - we only have upstairs carpet and one room on the main floor.

I would also love to have mud room/laundry room and/or entrance space. Front door dumps to the living room. Side door dumps to hallway by kitchen.

Needs: new windows (33!), wood floors replaced or refinished (3K sf), crawl space repairs (floor vibrating). So, yeah, I hate that it's falling apart!

Really would love a garage!

Too narrow.

Front door comes right into only upstairs living space (and because it's narrow there isn't enough room to make it a functional entryway).

Small closets.

But we were able to buy it and added space compared to our apt. (which was actually more roomy in terms of bathrooms and closets ... just would never work with children)

We have no storage for things we don't want to get dirty (only an outdoor shed and a gross attic), and if we ever have a second kid we'll have to get rid of all of our sports gear, Christmas decorations, camping gear, and out of season clothes so we have somewhere to put them. Our guest room is primarily storage right now.

66 is my backyard...hoping to sell this year, not feeling confident after reading that highway thread.

while we have been waiting to do a small renovation, we had to fix one section of our home and didn't bother re-painting it because we'll (hopefully!) be repainting again in a few months. so I hate driving up and seeing this section of the house - can't wait for it all to be done.

more long-term items, but I don't feel as strongly about them:
- wish we had a larger yard
- wish the basement could be finished (too short)
- wish we were one block over (not a huge deal, but it's be nice)

We have a 1940s house. No entry way - we've talked about enclosing the front porch to create one. Small bathrooms. Small kitchen.

Need another level for bedrooms - perhaps next year if the finances are there.

Our old pipes in the laundry room (basement) are giving us a headache.

It's all doable though, we love our old house and neighborhood!

Our deck faces west, which brings in nice sun to the back of the house but creates a desert effect on the deck itself during the summer. It's impossible to eat out there before the sun goes down. We've looked in to putting some trees along the property line but those will take awhile to grow.

We're in a cul de sac so while there is no through traffic, there are also no through roads. I feel like it's a windy maze in and out and it's frustrating when I'm pressed for time. Used to be in a development right off a main throughway.

Unfinished basement. Unusable space and such an eyesore.
