Actually, per Wikipedia, the company was founded in 1996, so it's been around for 18 years.

It sure has -- we bought our older son's bedroom furniture in 1994, tho' it might have been to the trade at that time as we got it through my cousin, who's an interior designer in California. Expensive, but it holds up beautifully.

My IKEA furniture is still holding up many years later.

I bought a PBK four piece set off of Craigslist 3 1/2 years ago. It *still* looks brand new. The family I bought it from had used is for 6 years.

The best part is that that I got it at a great price ($150)!

Bump...any other suggestions for stores to check out for decent, simple, somewhat modern kids furniture? I don't like the old-fashioned stuff.

Flea market. DD's dresser is one I bought when I graduated college 20 years ago. Solid maple, looks almost identical to my great-grandmother's bedroom set (very plain, almost Shaker style). When DD was a baby, we attached a changing pad (secured to the back). She's now eight and it is still going strong. I think I paid $60 for it.

Her headboard is a hand-me-down from her god-sister.

If your kids are teens, I'd probably buy something that I would be happy having in a guest room when they move out. In other words, something from a regular, gown up store. And then make sure they know how to treat furniture properly (coasters under glasses, for example).

could you go to a store that specialized in solid wood furniture? Their pieces tend to be less formal/ornate. And if you go to the ones where the furniture is unpainted, you can choose your finish/paint color.

Love our Bellini furniture. Dresser and bed have held up very well for over 7 years. Service and delivery time frames fit our needs well at the time.

If I had it to do over, I'd get something simple and classic from whatever furniture store fit my budget and taste, and add the kid touches in the form of art and decorative accents that could be changed over time as the child grows.

We were surprisingly pleased with furniture from Bob's. they had items more appropriate for my teen. They are nicer than I expected and ordering and delivery were very easy. Price was reasonable and they should last until college.

OP again: struggling to find "regular furniture" that is basic enough it will look normal in a kids room. Most quality bedroom furniture looks very formal. That's the appeal of vendors catering to kids: the furniture is basic and classic.
