So who from the FBI is taking these calls and doing as instructed, so the source can be identified and then hopefully law enforcement can at least fight back in some way?
Or is fighting back not possible?

When they infect a PC, if they are not looking for Passwords. I've seen cases where they will encrypt your files until you give them $$$ to buy their special av software that fixes the issue.

I got the same call just now. My caller ID shows "NAME NOT FOUND" and a phone number of "1352-1001022" which has too many digits it seems.

The guy insisted that it wasn't a sales call when I told him that my number is on the Do Not Call Registry. As others have mentioned, he had a HEAVY Indian/Pakistani'ish accent (I had to ask him to tell me what company he was calling from multiple times because I found it nearly unintelligible).

It sounded like he was calling to help me with my supposed Windows problems. FWIW, I use Linux and only have Windows on my photo/graphics workstation which doesn't have any problems.

When I told him that I was fairly certain that this was a scam given that I don't have any type of subscription or maintenance service with his company, nor have I even heard of it, he became incredibly hostile and defensive. "HOW CAN YOU SAY THIS IS A SCAM IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT I AM CALLING TO SAY TO YOU?!!!!!"

I told him that his rapid shift towards being hostile and argumentative merely confirmed my suspicions and to have a nice day.

Then I hung up.

Indian accent fellow called me the other night and said it was about my computer and I just hung up because I have heard of these scams. Caller ID said Louisiana call. I actually do have a computer from my old job that is boxed up and ready to be shipped back to the company as soon as they mail me the shipping label to send it back. I quit that job 3 months ago, and they have techs at that company with Indian accents who are in India, so I wondered if I might have hung up too quick the first time, but then I thought they would just have sent the labels to my house if they wanted the computer back now, and I never had any dealings with my old company with anyone in LA. Indian accent dude just called again today. This time Indian accent guy said "you know that computer you have belongs to us." I asked him what computer he was talking about. He said the one you have at your house, then he read my phone number to me and said he knew I had their computer here. I said okay, so you have my phone number and you say I have your computer, but how do you know I own a computer? He said I better give it back. I said that is impossible sir because I have never owned a computer in my life. He insisted somebody at my house has his computer, like my husband, son, daughter, parents, roommate. I told him they were all dead or did not exist, and the only roommate I ever had was a hillbilly who was technologically challenged and would not even know how to turn on a computer. I was gonna ask him if he had my address and/or tell him to have the police contact me, but he finally hung up. I'm ready to mess with him again if he calls back, but hoping he won't bother again. Just say you don't have a computer. That way they cannot get anything from you or fix anything for you. Just like when the guy called the other day and wanted me to do a survey about my driving habits. I just told him I don't have a license because I'm a drunk and lost it drinking and driving years and years ago. End of calls.

I love it when companies like that (like "Microsoft Windows Support" calls on a regular basis) call and I have the time to joke on THEM. I try to keep them on the phone for as long as possible - stringing them along as I work with them to "fix" my computer. When I get bored or have to go, I say I can't find the icons they want me to click on. Then I ask, "Is that because the computer says "Chrome" (Google)? THey hang up but I wasted 10 minutes of their time to call another potential victim.

They call me every day. I just lost it a few minutes ago and physically threatened them and hung up. He called me back and gave me his address and said he'll be waiting for me! I spoke with his supervisor and said they'd best take me off their call list, or I'd pay his employee a special visit....I'm usually not a violent person....

I received a similar call. The insisted they were callling at the request of my company's IT dept. Sadly for them, I work in my company's IT dept. It is really just a nuisance. I think I must be on some list b/c the fake IRS also called me, as well as Office of Billing Services (or something similarly "official sounding") All the callers have been South Asian.

Dealt with them 2 years ago. They use numbers from California, Nevada and now Louisana. This is a scam based in India. They claim to be working with PC Matic to gain access to your IP address, access to your computer and passwords. Do not deal with them!

I have been bating them. I was hoping I could track them down....so I created a dummy account on an old computer that sits unused...

My hope was they would try to log in, to get info from the PC, and I would capture their IP number. But, I think it is really looking for passwords. They are assuming people use the same login name and password on multiple accounts, I guess.

I hope these people rot in hell.

I have received calls from them 3 times. Each time a different number was used. I reported all 3 numbers, but don’t believe that does much good. I also blocked the numbers on my phone service, but if they used different numbers that doesn’t help. Last call I received, I blew a whistle into the phone. Hopefully, that will keep them from calling back.

You should try and sell them something, like a timeshare!

This is a scam. No one will call you to repair your computer unless you called there first. No one knows what is wrong with your computer unless you tell them. I have had them call (different name) IT support, PC Windows Repair, etc. 4 times in the last 2 days.

IT IS A SCAM. I tell them not to call again, we are an Apple shop.

Yup, got the same call just a few minutes ago. The number on caller ID was 985-469-8823, and when I called it back, a non-service message came on. Googled the company name and got a website. Figure they are making a legitimate looking front.
