We like Ragu. I saute onion, green pepper and add in a little minced garlic, fresh basil, some Italian seasoning and it could pass for a homemade sauce.

I've never tried Rao's but now I will based on the recommendations here.

We like Victoria marinara sauce. I buy it at Giant or Safeway.

I like the Harris Teeter store brand pasta sauces. Trader joes creamy tomato basil is also good. I will not pay $8 for a jar of sauce.

I'm the first Giada poster. The regular tomato basil is good (and I think that's the one that has won all of the taste tests) but I also like the vegetable marinara. It has peppers, mushrooms and onions in it. I haven't tried any of the other flavors but will try the creamy tomato now based on pp's post.

I'd rate the commonly available ones:

1. Barilla traditional
2. Prego traditional
3. Classico tomato basil

That Giada Target one actually beat Rao's in one of the online taste tests though I confess I instantly hate anything promoted by her.

Sorry for the double post, not sure why it did that.

Love Rao's marinara sauce. I usually make mine, but when a recipe calls for sauce (like baked ziti) I will use Rao. Really tasty!

This. seriously. Why would you eat anything but Rao's out of a jar? It's so delicious that all other sauces have been ruined for me.

Rao's is the only brand we'll eat.

I really like Victoria marinara (the only listed ingredients are tomatoes, onions, olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic and basil).

I buy from Costco (2 big jars for about 7 dollars).

Rao's was on sale at giant this saturday. may still be.

I found the trader joe's ones very watery.

I second the Classico, think it is a basil one. I also look for ones without sugar added, most are too sweet.
