DC is so transitional and there is always geographical movement. Call the Admission offices noted above and check to see what they say.

GDS usually takes a couple third graders. As everyone has pointed out, however, 4th grade is far more likely to be an entry year.

Also, never hurts to call and ask about possible attrition if it is a school you really like.

I would call these schools mentioned above, (Norwood, WES, etc.), I would guess most years they have openings in third because people move or kids leave to go to other schools etc.

OP again. How many kids does St. Andrew's have (approximately) in grades 3, 4 and 5? (I know I should ask admissions but that would be awkward.) I ask because that's one of the drawbacks of the current school.
