If he won't consider it, look at a Mirena or Paragard. I've had Mirena for about 1.5 years now and have been very happy with it. I'm done having kids, but wasn't quite ready to get my tubes tied at 40, and my doc wanted me off the pill after 40.

At the same time though, the pill slightly increases the risk of breast cancer while you are on it. At least that's what my OB told me.
