Because it's natural, beautiful, better snorkeling and less built up than Grand Cayman, incredible, relaxing, and not many people go there because of the extra flight required. I hope the citizens never have the dubious pleasure of your company.

Ritz is beautiful, Marriott is meh. Ritz has a great beach, while the Marriott barely has a beach.

Lots of nice condos...try vrbo.

Any recs for upscale condos on Grand Cayman? Can anyone compare the Ritz and Marriott? They're showing comparable rates for the week we're looking for (just under $700/night). Thanks.

For snorkeling, don't miss Stingray City. It's a huge attraction, so it's not hard to find info on it. But it's a sandbar really far out on the water (you have to take a boat). We chartered a boat and it was really fun. Did this with DH and I; I think it would be ok for a 7yo, but I'm not totally sure.

One note -- the stingrays are basically domesticated due to the high volume of visitors (domesticated in terms of getting food from people; not saying they're any safer than stingrays generally, although it is reasonably safe). When the hear boats, they come to you en masse because they know the people bring food. So not super eco-friendly tourism. Wanted to point that out in case that's something that bothers you.

Also, we stayed at the Ritz. It was very nice, but not out of this world. If it's a lot more money, I might look at other hotels as well. This was pre-kids for us, but I do recall that there were a lot of kids there.

We stayed at the Sunshine Suites on 7 Mile Beach. Yes you had to take your beach chairs across the road, but it's totally worth it. You save $$, the rooms are nice and the all inclusive breakfast is amazing! Also, Sunshine Suites has one of the better restaurants on the island! Enjoy
