Did you ever want a female role model in your life? Or did you feel your Dads played that role well enough?

Was one the softie and the other was the rules man, or did they each play both roles?

How often did you hear, "Ask you father?" I would imagine that game could go on for a while...

Yes, I'm adopted. No, I have never had contact with my biological mother. I don't know if my dads tried to find a female influence for me specifically, but I would bet money that they didn't. They both considered themselves to be fully competent parents.

I didn't have one. I wasn't presented with some woman who my parents said "This will be your faux mother, to ask all your girly questions of, and to show you how to be female." In our extended family there are many great men and women. Both my dads have close friends who are both men and women.

Please cite your source for this because the only research I've read is that children raised by same-sex parents are no more likely to be gay than children raised by straight parents. And how do you explain ALL the gays and lesbians who were raised by straight parents and have straight siblings?

I'm female, and not to brag, but I think I turned out pretty awesomely.
I don't really wish anything had been different. Both my parents are pretty foodie-intense and as a kid, sometimes I just wanted regular Welch's grape jelly instead of quince jam or whatever, but that's pretty much my only complaint.

How old are you? I would think you'd be young, as having two gays as parents wasn't exactly the "thing" when I was growing up.

There were gays; don't get me wrong. But my two good buds, who have been together for decades and who wanted to adopt so badly years ago, said that it wasn't possible then.
