OP, there are many social misfits, sociopaths and worse. They like to call themselves "introverts".
Often, they try to assess their own EQ and attempt to justify their lack of EQ. This usually leads to them trying to allude that they have a stronger IQ than EQ. Not so. If you know anything about the subject, you know this.
This area draws many of them because they can usually only concentrate on one thing at a time, and they "immerse" themselves in "work". But really, how many of them are as "important" as they believe themselves to be![]()
Be amused and move on. If they are lacking basic social graces, it is considered a class (not money) distinction. Historically, the lower classes are unfriendly and are lacking in these areas. Note the proverbial "pissing contest". Take it for what it is. It indeed isn't about you - be thankful! They don't know any better.
Thought the lower classes were generally more friendly than upper classes because the lower class people rely on the cooperation of others. Not so much for the upper class people.
Nope. The upper classes have nothing to gain from others, so they speak to others in a civil and jovial manner. They have all of the power. If you meet wealthy people of all kinds - you see this behavior. Heads of state, politicians, supreme court justices, embassy officials, business owners of multi billion dollar industries - you will see this behavior consistently. They do not engage in lower class behavior.
The lower classes are angry about their station in life, so they lash out at others. Often, this results in the lower classes trying to pretend they are something they are not; in an effort to try to compensate for their short comings. I thought this was widely known?!![]()
It is rather unfortunate, but obvious to those who have spent much of their time around wealthy people. The reason I use wealthy people as an example, is because they are taught to behave in a certain way, often by their upbringing. You can tell the fakers a mile away. I suppose something like this is difficult to explain in a town full of fakers. Have you ever seen a higher class individual make "faces", gossip or behave in a socially uncouth manner, as a regular practice? Probably not.
Sometimes, but not always, it is a matter of old money. But they do not like that term on this board. It sends them over the edge.

1. Some people are narcissists
2. Some people are autistic
3. Some people have asberger's syndrome
4.Some people are introverts (as others have mentioned here).
5. Some people are jerks
6. Some people are oblivious
7. Many more that I can't think of right now

I am naturally an introvert meaning it takes a lot of effort and energy in my case to talk to people just for the sake of talking. I actually am very interested in people and have a good (small) group of friends, but if I do not know you well or do not find that we have anything in common or just plain do not like you, I likely will not make the effort to talk to you.
