My friend's son was in the hospital for a week with a resistant strain.

Silver is not a last resort. It's been and continues to be first line treatment for burns. External use only, unfortunately as other PP's have noted.

Yes, I'm aware. That's why they're trying some other therapies. And you do know that most of the time we get staph infections, it's a pretty simple infection that our bodies fight off pretty effectively.

Since clearly a dr is not involved..perhaps OP just has a general skin infection that you can get from shaving or another nick. I would put hot compresses on in regularly through the day..eventually pus should come out and the wound should resolve. I have had these and my Dr said to call if the redness gets larger and streaky or if you run a fever.
