I have always thought of it as verging on rapey; perhaps "prelude to a date rape."

But after reading the lyrics posted above I think it's more a study in slut shaming. You have a woman who wants to stay, but she knows her reputation is at stake. The guy doesn't give a shit; his reputation could only be bolstered and he just wants to get laid.

Convince? There's no presentation of pros and cons of sleeping with the scumbag. The song is straight up pressuring a woman to stay and sleep with him, and telling her to drink more to dull her senses. That's definitely rapist behavior.

He's trying to talk his way into her pants. In my experience, a rapist doesn't bother with all that.
I think you have a skewed view of what a rapist is - not that this behavior alone makes a person a rapist but it's certainly the kind of behavior a date rapist might lead off with.

Yes, it's troubling.

Party games. I assume you've seen party games.

Most winter songs are about date rape. Everyone knows that snow means cocaine, wind means flatulence, fire means sexual arousal, hot chocolate means a penis, etc. and don't get me started on the little drummer boy. Woohee!

Yes! Reindeer's names are just euphemisms. For instance, are you a Vixen? And DH is a Dasher? Sure... we all want a Prancer.

It's not a Christmas song either.... How the hell is this song equated with Christmas is beyond me.

I sort of agree with this. "Rapist" seems strong to me but the manipulation on the part of the man has always bugged me in listening to that song.

It depends which recording you listen to. In some it sounds playful, like she's enjoying being wooed, and in some of them it definitely sounds like she thinks she's been roofied. At any rate, it's as irritating as Santa Baby. I like Eartha Kitt the person, but the song is just annoying.
