I love it when folks start opining on something that shows their lack of knowledge. I would love to see this poster try to catch a snap, get off a punt of over 40 yards all the while being rushed by opponents, and accomplish that feat in just about 2.5 seconds. Nope, no athletic ability needed at all. To quote the ESPN NFL experts, "C'mon, Man!"

A punter is no more an athlete than a golfer that only swings an appendage. Nice try. No dice.

Whether you find the post ridiculous or not, you are making much ado about nothing.Anonymous wrote:It amazes me how people take such innocent posts and find a way to turn them into something ugly. The heading says STA alum. That is who the OP chose to talk about. I'm sure OP has no problem with posters extolling the merits of other players but why do some of you find it necessary or your duty to turn a rather nice initial thread into something which was not intended?
There are better ways to get your jollies.
The original post was voer the top. Why does one post "now that's a scholar athlete"? There are MANY posts that could be made on that issue...and they would NOT be punter.....look, not picking on the kid here..kudos to him...but the post itself was ridiculous.

High school teachers and administrators help shape students so his school deserves some of the credit. Lastly, keep posting about local students its one of the reasons I come to DCUM for general and specific info.

It was the comment.... Now that's a scholar athlete ... That made the OP appear to be defensive.
I agree the PP is rude but it was an attempt to show STA has "scholar athletes" ... They can't just be happy with scholars and being wealthy.
