You sound like a peach of a MIL yourself. So, you have Thanksgiving, invite all family, including your son, but want to exclude DIL from the turkey dinner? Who the heck does that for Thanksgiving? You suck it up for one day of the year, MIL, ONE DAY. Drunk Uncle Jim, that aunt who endlessly talks about her vacations, obnoxious cousins, even that other Uncle with the absolutely unacceptable political views, they're all family and are tolerated for one day. Isn't that the point of Turkey Day? To give thanks and put aside petty wars?
She is/will be the mother of your grandchildren, for pete's sakes.
Your DIL seems to have married into a "pack" that the OP is alluding to, catty, clannish and unpleasant.
