I've been coloring for 20+ years, but not because of gray, but because I wanted to be blond. Now, I'm growing my hair out, and, from what I can see, it's just my natural brown color and not a lot of gray. So we'll see...

I am worried about the chemicals, particularly if you have dark hair. I know three women personally who dyed their hair very dark brown, all of whom died of lymphoma. There is a "suspected" link between lymphoma and dark hair dye, but it has not been proven. Neither was the link between smoking and lung cancer "proven," but I'm not taking any chances.

I do use a small amount of peroxide when I wash my hair to treat my eczema, and it does lighten my medium brown hair. It does not do much to the gray, though. No cancer link to peroxide (yet!). I don't think the blonde dyes are linked to cancer, but again, I'm not taking any chances. Those women who died were in their 40s, and 60s. Terrible to lose your life because of vanity.

Insecurity has nothing to do with it. I let it go until my younger child tells me its time to color again... Plus I enjoy the hour+ of pampering I get when I go to the salon!

I am 35 and have streaks starting at my temples that stand out against my dark brown hair. Right now I part my hair so that they are hidden unless I want to show them off.

Once they get more pronounced or I get more salt and pepper, I plan to start getting a mix of cool blonde and silver highlights until I am 100 gray.

My mom always had long gray hair, but wavy, shiny and well kept. I plan to do the same.

And what's wrong with aging?

Started going gray in high school. Didn't dye my hair until I was 30, then stopped for good (and stopping was good) when I was in my mid-40s.

I won't go gray unless I am allergic to all hair dyes. My mom is still coloring her hair at 85 and she looks great!
