I am the one that wrote the yelp review and I am certainly not a disgruntled ex-employee. What I am however is an extremely loving aunt who is very much concerned about her niece's care. While I do not doubt that others here have had great experiences at Huckleberry Cheescake, my family's experience with the place was far from that. One woman in particular was very awful to not only to my niece but to other children in the room as well. Having said that, all of this happened more than five years ago and so perhaps the place has changed and hopefully that woman is gone.

Do you see any negative changes in your niece because of this behavior?

Oh, and I know of no tricks to getting off. I think it's just done by the order received.

For those who got in at Huck Cheese, how long did it take you to get off the wait list? And are there any special tricks to get in?

My experience, having come from a bright Horizons center with so many violations of DC code that we had to withdraw my daughter, is that Huck Chessecake is amazing, especially the infant room.

It is a good solid daycare and they are very hard to find. Saying that it is amazing is over the top.

My daughter is now in the strawberry (2-3) year old room at Huck, but the infant teachers are the same, and they are all wonderful. Just love them. We had Ms. Marcia as our primary caregiver, who has been there I think at least 15 years. She was so loving and caring toward my child, and she still gives her hugs and kisses when she sees my toddler in the hallway. If you are offered a spot, I would take it--it is a wonderful center and that room in particular is amazing.

From yelp: This place is awful. I still cringe when I think about my niece's experience here. She went from the time she was 6 mos. to the time she was about 3 yrs old. I would occasionally pick her up or drop her off and so I know a little about the care she received. When she was with the infants, the care was great. It was only when she moved to the next level did the problems begin. I remember dropping her off one day, and seeing the "teachers" treat the kids so poorly that it breaks my heart to this day. They barely interacted with the kids and when they did, it was to tell the kids they were being "rude.". Who tells a two year old they are being rude? Then there was another time that my niece was crying and so the teachers told her she had to stay back and couldn't go on the outing. They left her back at the center to play by herself for the whole morning! Why send a child to day care to socialize with her peers only to have her left alone? After she finally left the center, my niece would refer to Huckleberry Cheesecake as the "cry place."

DC parents- I suggest you think twice about sending your child here.
