+1. Let's me see here's a list of the types of jobs I've had as an English major (in no particular order). Non-profit fundraiser, community relations, public relations manager, project manager, events manager, arts education coordinator, health communication specialist. Through my jobs I've worked on these topic areas and more: arts, housing/community development, youth development, social services, mental health, public health (diabetes, obesity, influenza).

I wouldn't change a thing. I will certainly admit though that times have changed. I think today there is an emphasis on being more focused with a career path. It's more difficult to move around and explore different job paths. I think my path would be impossible to recreate today, which is sad IMO.

I have a bachelor's and master's in English. I started in marketing and now work in federal proposals. I make pretty decent money too.

I worked as a writer/editor for years, then moved into the tech field. I have tons of flexibility there because I have the tech and the communication skills. That said, an easier way to merge the two would be to get a technical editing job.

I was a Marketing major and found it useless. I wish I had been an English major. At least I would have enjoyed studying something useless and I would have honed my writing skills. The English majors I do meet tend to be good writers.
