You could also buy a fairly new used car that will have already off gassed. That is probably what I would do in your shoes.

I heard many people die from it.

People are so rude. It is classic off gassing. Not great, not going to cause major damage. You have to pick your battle on which is better, now or later. We got a new foam mattress in the first tri thats tunk to high heaven and I just dealt with it and slept elsewhere for a few days bc we really really needed a new mattress.

It would seem to me that a newborn is somewhat more completely formed than your average fetus. Your opinion on this may vary.

Not as bad as smoking a pack a day, but not as good as eating plenty of protein and fresh veggies every day. If you need a new car right now,buy it and keep the windows cracked open. If you can wait, then wait.

Listen to your body. If the new car smell bothers you either open a window or (if possible) wait until you are past the first trimester to buy the car.
