When the team owner says, "We will never change the name of the team," I consider that somebody refusing to change the name.

I would lay a bet it is changed in the next 5 years. Don't believe everything you read in the paper, this is racial and sells. Also the commissioner of football has approved a name change, there has also been paperwork submitted to the patent office for various names.

It's fun to feel sorry for someone when they aren't a threat: that is why we like wolves, and mountain lions, and American Indians. They were a real and potent threat, that's why they were killed, in accordance with the values of the time the killing was done in. They tortured and killed an awful lot of people as well, raping women and cutting the skin off of people in strips, roasting and eating it.
It's all well and good to feel sorry now, as we live in this land now, but please don't go all we killed the poor peaceful Indians on me.

Channel your outrage and energy to the poverty, alcoholism, drug addicts, ill educated, hopelessnessand helplessness of Amerivan Indians. Ranting about the name of an NFL football team worth hundteds of millions is disingenious at best.
Redskin isn't even in American vernacular like so many other slurs, it just isn't.

Oh, and the team was born in Boston, not Washington.

Maybe it's not in your vernacular because there aren't Indians anymore in DC area?
