If yoU are so concerned, switch off and on with your dh next year. Or have your dh do one block with DC, come home and switch places with you. This is not rocket science.

some of you PPs are bat-sh*t crazy. The ages when parents accompany their children trick-or-treating don't last forever, eventually today's parents with toddlers will be tomorrow's parents with teens and they will be home "paying it forward" and handing out candy to tomorrow's toddlers. Enjoy Halloween out your little ones as a whole family, if that's what you wish to do! Leave a bowl or shut off your lights -- you have plenty of years ahead of you to hand out candy.

Why can't they parents take turns with the kids?

Either turn lights off or leave bowl and note.
The rest of the neighborhood WILL SURVIVE it. I assure you.

What is everyone else does that?

Your mind is made up, why ask for validation?
Could it be that you know it's extremely rude?

I totally agree.
Never seen anyone leave a bowl.

I've left a bowl out and returned an hour or 90 minutes later wi some left in the bowl. Maybe because I leave a note saying to leave some for their fellow trick-or-treaters so everyone can get some?

Neighbours don't want to be bothered.
