I don't like the idea of making kids kiss people if they don't want to, even family. Your nieces are old enough that you can ask them, "Do you want to give me a kiss, or would you rather give me a hug?" or something, and let them tell you what they would like. It's a small way of showing them that their preferences matter.

You people has selective illiteracy, it boggles my mind.

I am saying she forces them to do it people. They are obviously uncomfortable and I can tell by their body language that they don't want to kiss Hairy Uncle Jethro from back East. I am not talking about grandma, and close relatives. As for shaking my nieces hand, She is 8 years old and frankly she looks uncomfortable with kissing. So I give a quick hug or a handshake. I never said that they didn't get tons of kisses and hugs, I just don't like them kissing on the neighbor who popped in for dinner or like I said the weird random "Uncle" who happens to be over helping grandpa with his truck.
