Your sense of smell also might be heightened.

If he has pretty good dental hygiene it might be a sign of ketosis, sometimes caused by diet or diabetes:

Does he have acid relax or indigestion? My DH had a problem with bad breath for awhile and once he was treated for acid reflux it virtually went away! He still gets occasional bad breath (like we all do) and can usually pinpoint it to something he ate. Also, if he has had a particularly stressful day it can be bad too!

Good luck, OP. It's no fun and my DH was embarrassed also. Keep looking for the answer, though, because you will both be much happier!

Try mucinex, no alcohol, lots and lots of water, limit caffeine, low sugar and carbs. Sounds complicated but you have to get anything bacteria producing or dehydrating out before it will get better.

probably has a sinus infection.

Zyrtec 10 mg. will help it if it's a post-nasal drip.

He has bad allergies and its not a bad breath smell - it's worse do this is why I think it is post nasal drip. And yes, I have told him, yes he was embarrassed and it was awful and yes he has a dental appt and an appt with his allergist but I am looking for insight!!

What can he do for this?? I need your help!

I feel bad for him, and for you too. We have same exact problem. He's done everything, just gets worse as you get older. Sorry.

If you had your tonsils removed you won't get tonsil stones. I curse the doctors who decided that tonsils are useful and promoted not removing them.

Yes- it's tonsil stones. I have them too and it causes bad breath. I frequently pop them out with my finger which is the only way I know how to take care of it. It's disgusting. My ENT said the only option is to remove the tonsils which is a major deal in an adult. I did find a product called Thera Breath that helped somewhat. I think it's worth a try. Good luck

FYI, you can cough/hack out tonsil stones. I get them occasionally and take care of them that way. It's oddly satisfying. However, I haven't yet had a solution to halitosis as the result of postnasal drip, and my 15-year-old daughter has terrible bad breath for that reason.
