The school in my MoCo nieghborhood is heavily Latino and heavily farms. This is a shift from the population of the school 8 years ago when we moved here.

No idea of these kids are illegal - it's irrelevant. The big issue is that so many of these kids often struggle with English and the demands on the school to meet the needs of ESOL students takes its toll. Test scores are also affected. The result for our family is that we will either pursue private or immersion programs. Our nieghborhood school won't cut it.

From the description of one of the authors: "proud husband of a Mexican immigrant.". Clearly an unbiased source. I'm pretty liberal in most ways, but I just don't get how most people want to just ignore illegal immigration. 25% of Hispanic kids in MoCo don't graduate from high school, and this is in a place that spends large amounts of money and resources to try to keep this from happening. How is this good for MD or the US?

Please provide documentation that these Hispanic children are illegal immigrants. I won't bother waiting, because you can't. Now please go back to watching Fox News while the rest of us actually use our minds. Thank you.

I don't watch Fox news and I use my mind quite well thank you. I didn't say that the kids were illegal immigrants. From the reading I've done probably 75% are US citizens of illegal immigrants, which still boils down to an illegal immigration issue. Please let me know what we're supposed to do with the 25% of Hispanic kids who don't graduate from highschool. I'm interested in hearing how great this is for Maryland.

This. Can the xenophobes please go back to supporting the Tea Party and leave the rest of us in MD alone?
