I buy multiple things from places that have free shipping or let me return to a store - then he keeps the stuff he likes and sends the rest back.

He usually mentions what he wants (i.e. new khakis, new work shirts) and then I get it next time I am also online ordering things.

It may have been years since he's been to a store. He shows me in magazines or the J Crew catalog what he likes and trusts me to get him something similar.

No, never. He's very particular about his clothes and only wears one style - preppy. My taste is way too eclectic for him and he'd hate half of what I'd pick out. I do go with him when he's shopping and will provide input, but he makes the final decision.

Yes, buy everything. My husband has no interest in shopping. Wore uniforms for work for many years so he had no need for a big wardrobe.

Infantilized? Handicap?

So if a DW had a DH buy her clothes you would consider her infantilized/handicapped?

No, I prefer not to infantalize my husband.

Yes, but I discuss it with him first.

I'm the OP of the other thread.
DH is the mad scientist type and NEVER things about how he looks, and hates spending money into the bargain. So in order for him to agree on buying new clothes, I have to pick them out and explain the rationale behind the choice.
It's ridiculous.

Thankfully I am raising DS, also the mad scientist type, to have a little more awareness of his appearance.

Yes, I buy multiple sizes, take home, he says yes or no and I return the no's. I love to shop and he hates it. When he does "shop" he comes home from an event with some awful souvenir t-shirt... He must have over 100 t-shirts.

No, he is an adult. He's also particular. I do but him shirts for casual wear sometimes, and sometimes he wears them and other times they just stay permanently in the closet.

Never, thankfully he is not handicapped.

I buy almost all of the clothes for our family. My husband hates to shop, but he still needs clothes so I take care of it. Almost always buy online, and usually with him there to say which things he likes.

OP here. I'm similar - although not so much about taste, just sense of fashion. He's younger than me and more sporty/preppy than I am, so I wouldn't get it right. But still, even if he didn't have time to shop and liked me to buy his clothes, I'd still feel like his mom!!

I have college age boys and stopped buying their clothes at age 16 (when they could drive to the mall themselves; although I still paid for their stuff). DH, on the other hand, is a business executive and needs to look the part. I have a lot of fun being his personal shopper. So, no, i don't feel at all like his mom (and his mom hasn't bought him anything worth owning since DH was 11).

No. He has great taste and likes expensive clothes. I would be scared that I would not pick out the right thing and would waste the money.

Unfortunately yes. Otherwise he'll have nothing to wear. I swore I won't be the wife that buys her husband's clothes but he simply despises clothes shopping and refuses to buy anything himself. I hate it but have no other choice.

No. I don't know much about men's fashion (or women's for that matter). I have two ex boyfriends who are now married and they look great, way better than when we were dating! Their wives dress them well, I guess!
