I rarely see orderly lines. Just a bunch of yahoos trying to be first.

I am surprised there was an orderly line to cut into. At my stops there is just a mass of people filtering on the escalator. The more aggressive get through it faster..but not by cutting.

You should have marched right up to her, and in your biggest, loudest, sing-song voice, said "Cutter, cutter, peanut butter, get to the back of the line". That would have solved everything.

Metro brings out the worst in some people. They act like animals.
I agree with you, OP. If you don't want to wait your turn for the righthand side of the escalator, then walk up the left side. But this is D.C., and there are plenty of douches everywhere.

I for one am shocked! There was a rude woman riding the D.C. Metro? That usually only happens on days ending with a Y.

What difference does it make? Maybe she's claustrophobic and was desperate for some fresh air. Get some real problems OP.

Tough to get worked up about this. The more inconsiderate people are those who stand on the left or just stop at the top, taking in the view before moving. Or people who wait for the gates to close before using their smarttrip/farecard. Keep it moving people!
