Commander's. It's too expensive for tourists. Definitely a must experience.

I'm the Root poster and I will admit that while I have been and continue to go to NOLA for business 3-4 times a year - I really HATE Cajun, NOLA, Louisiana cuisine.

I am an adventurous eater, not picky, but I dread going to NOLA for this reason. The only thing that saves it for me is getting out down Chef Menteur for Vietnamese food or finding a gem of a French restaurant.

Luc is also ok in my book for a nice meal but not an impress the international clients. I suggested Root because the goal was to "really impress" the clients and I have hosted several 20 person dinners there and the service was amazing, the presentation was awesome and the environment is not too large or small and we could hear each other talk. I think Root is good for a business meal and for having a combination of local and French flavors without being too traditional Nola.

Some, probably most, people love traditional Nola - I do not.

NP here and agree with you. I'm not a native but have friends there and love New Orleans! We used to enjoy Clancy's as well. Is it a place to recommend?

Commander's is not for tourists. My family has been dining there for decades.

Yes for commanders palace for lunch or dinner. Court of two sisters for the most ridiculous breakfast buffet ever.

Stella and Nola were my favs the last time we were there.

Cochon. Call them and ask them to set up a "blow us out of the water" tasting menu for your party. Yes, it's a bit more casual and served family-style but you will not be disappointed.

Cochon was AMAZING. Still thinking about those oysters roasted in rock salt.
