Perhaps they aren't defined by their jobs and find great satisfaction and fulfillment in engaging with their families. For most mothers I know (many dads too) a great part-time job is like the holy grail, but it is an option for very few.

What I don't understand is people who go out of their way to cast aspersions on other people's well-considered life choices.

I love Sundays! Pancakes or eggs for breakfast, church as a family, pedicure in afternoon, kids nap, watch football, do calendar for week, make a good dinner. Only I miss is Sopranas and SITC on Sundays!

That sounds great, but you have an older kid(kids?). I like Subdays but agree with others that Sunday evenings are a drag. It is very stressful getting geared up for the week and by Sunday night, my 5 and 1 year kid have managed to tear the place apart. I think when they get older, Sunday nights will be easier.

Agree with a PP that OP and others like her don't really get much satisfaction out of their boring, childish families and need the type of stimulation that a fast paced office provides.

There are a lot of people like this, my H being one of them. Four year olds are uninteresting. Litigating to rip the balls off your opponent? Now THAT is fascinating. And constant stimulation with like-tempered adults.

I tend to do fun stuff on Saturdays with my family and then have to cram the grocery shopping, cleaning and laundry into Sundays, so they're not a favorite for me either at this point.

Wow, I would love if I could do this every Sunday!

My weekends are consumed by my kids and their sports. I would love to have one lazy day a week where everyone is at home and relaxed, and we aren't rushing between activities and trying to get homework done in between. I'd especially love it if I could slip away by myself to a movie or the mall or book store. What a treat!

Yes - this is a good idea. OP - since you're so busy you probably don't get time for one-on-one with your kids. It might help you get to know them better and enjoy their company.

Hate Sundays. Too quiet for me. I love the hustle and bustle of Friday knowing its the end of the workweek and Sat. when we have a lot of activities and normally plans on Sat. night.

A lot of ppl dont' like Sundays, Oprah did a show where they talked about this, you should try to find it..it was so interesting.

When my kids were young, I loved Sundays, we always had a family brunch then did something fun but now we have teens who want nothing to do with us, and definitely not "family activities" so its changed a lot and i definitely do not care for them any day, its a quiet day a good day to get things done but I can see your point about how it can feel depressing especially in fall/winter.

When I was single, I did not care for Sundays. All of the fun weekend events were over, I felt lonely, and all I had to look forward to was the work week ahead. Now that I am married and a parent, though, I really need Sundays to decompress and recoup. By Sundays, I always say, I feel like the house is finally clean again, the laundry is done and put away, the pantry is stocked. . and I can breathe for one second (but just a second!) before everything starts to fall apart again all week long, while we are at school and work, and chaos reigns again. . until next weekend, and next Sunday.

So bizarre. OP, there are prob. deeper underlying reasons you feel this way. I don't think you hate Sundays. Either you don't like to spend time with your DH, you don't like to spend time with your kids, or you all don't do activities you like on Sundays. Find activities you all like to do on Sundays, both together and maybe one parent one child, etc.

I disliked Sundays as a kid because I hated being dragged to church and it was a school night.

It took me a while to get past that ingrained feeling as an adult, even after I broke free of church. I think my lingering preference for Saturdays has to do with associating Saturdays with seeing friends and family, doing fun things, and generally experiencing little stress. I tend to associate Sundays with the end of long-anticipated trips, taking care of chores that need to be done by Monday, making sure DS's homework is completed, and other not-so-fun stuff.
