Can you explain how a week of slapping others' rear ends is "overblown"? I don't follow what you are saying.

I am not sure how you "overblow" boys slapping the bottoms of girls. It should not be tolerated - period. I don't care whether it also happens at a majority white school - it should not happen in any public school. I know here are lots of things that happen in middle schools and high schools that are difficult to monitor and control (drug use, bullying etc.), but this seems pretty straightforward. Can you imagine if you worked at a big company and your male co-workers organized "Slap-Ass" week and the management had a "oh well, boys will be boys" attitude? I think while an adult woman would find the situation very difficult a teenager would find it very upsetting and confusing.

If they won't take care of teachers that fight and act belligerently towards students...I doubt that they would handle peer on peer dynamics well. I read online about slap behind (not the word used) week. From going to the open house, I see an utter lack of control. I'm sure the environment works well for smart kids who can handle a tough school environment.

Your beautiful daughter will be inappropriately touched? Why do you think that will happen?

I have two CAP kids and the figure of 50 from Eastern seems high to me. I don't know the exact figures, although I know a lot of CAP kids.

I wasn't impressed with the speakers nor the way many of the parents acted during the assembly (talked). I know bad things happen everywhere but I would be worried about DC becoming a target. DD is currently slated to go to a great school. You are more than welcome to take that spot.
I have a mixed feeling about this and understand your concern. These teachers who had a fist fight in front of students are still employed and I heard that their behavior/attitude toward the students are questionable (constantly yelling at them using inappropraite languages (cursing) during the class).
