OP here - interesting - this is the only thing on this thread I haven't tried or heard of - I have done the apples thing, and related, is the apple cider vinegar - neither do much for me (regardless of which type of apples). I've had GERD before, and actually, selzer water sometimes helps me. It makes me burp, which can really help, and sometimes it cuts mucous and soothes my throat. Toast also soothes the throat and carries some of the mucous down in a similar way. It doesn't reduce the heart burn, but it does take care of some related / additional symptoms and doesn't seem to make anything worse. Plain water is worse than anything else for me - carbonated is much better, again, does not avoid, but doesn't worsen.
As for Pre-E, I know what heartburn feels like and this is definitely it. And who says it is not common to get heartburn toward the end of pregnancy? It definitely is. The progesterone slows your metabolism down, the relaxin causes your esophageal valve to loosen and let acid flow both ways, and the baby pushes the contents of your stomach up - very normal to develop it at the end (even if you're lucky enough to avoid it sooner).
I'm so over it... In any case, I've had the heartburn since day 1, it's just way worse now that things are so crowded in there.
