Why are gay pride parades held in June and not mid October?

It's warmer, so it's more pleasant for activists to remove more of their clothing to parade around and twerk in the public streets.

The Stonewall riots occurred in June http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stonewall_riots

For obvious reasons, June is not an ideal "school" month to devote to LGBT celebration. Now that celebrating Columbus is frowned upon, October is a good month.

Yes, the view that people are who they are is certainly very extreme.

(I am being sarcastic.)

Instead, the school hires a lot of gay, Asian, hispanic, black, etc faculty and administrators, and weaves diverse voices throughout the curriculum.

Which school, please?

Sheridan School

Back in college the Psych department offered a course in this area called "Deviant Behavior." While that characterization even then and certainly by today's standards is inappropriately harsh, I still have a hard time that schools present LGBT at the other extreme to young kids -- that some people prefer vanilla, others strawberry.

A whole month?! Liberace, Elton John and J. Edgar Hoover, there is that.

I'd like to see someone propose Confederate History Month. Imagine the uproar!

why shouldn't younger kids acknowledge LGBT? Some of them already know they are gay.

I believe St. Patrick's did something that caused a bit of an uproar.
