OP here- sometimes I think the same. Things are so busy and move so quickly, I have stopped noticing whether he even calls when he is away. And then I forget to fill him in on what happened, or when I do remember, I don't think he really cares or takes any of it in. I think sometimes my timing is off.

I like it when my boyfriend is away on trips. It makes me wonder if maybe I shouldn't marry him

Welcome to my world! My H is going away next week and I cam giddy with excitement! Love him to pieces but honestly the time apart is a great idea and much needed. He is intense and I am the free spirit of the household..its much calmer when hes not around, we all know it. So a break every now and then is a great idea for all of us! Totally normal!

My marriage is not similar to yours, but I LOVE when my husband travels for work. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. So does a few days on your own with the remote, the whole bed, the schedule of your choice...

I like a lot of alone time, but it's so rare with kids. I really look forward to those nights when my husband is away and the kids are in bed - I can settle in with a glass of wine and some bad tv or a trashy book. Heaven.

OP, I totally can see your point on this.

If you feel like you want to be apart all the time, that may not be a good sign, but sometimes is probably harmless.

Living w/another person can be very stressful when you have to adapt to certain ways of doing things their way. Sounds like your hubby likes to rush things and you tend to be more laid back. Totally understandable.

I think space is good for all couples and you're just enjoying your space. Think of it this way- he probably enjoys dinners out and sleeping alone in a hotel room when he's away. I don't mind when my DH travels either. It's like a mini-vacation and I'm always happy to see him when he gets home.

Sounds like he's focusing on the destination, not the traveling to get there.

OP, I'm suspecting you might be married to my husband. Feel the exact same way. We went to a farm this weekend for apples and pumpkins and had so much fun. Last time we went, he was with us and kept saying it was time to leave, even though we hadn't gotten through half the place and had no where to be. He just has no attention span for anything. So I'm always so happy when he goes on trips, which thankfully he does frequently. Totally one less kid to worry about.

There's something to that "one boss" bit. I find it exhausting to have DH gone, but once our kids are older, I imagine I'll think differently.
