Not PP you are respondeing to but I hate Halloween and think its the stupidiest of holidays. It is about one thing - candy - in a nation already full of obese kids and parents. Yeah, great idea, lets make unhealthy, fat folks even more unhealthy and obese by giving out free high calorie, non-nutrisious food in vast quantities....

I don't see why people don't leave their Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine's Day decorations all up all year round.

I love Halloween and usually wait until the first week in October. That said, they did creep up earlier this year since it's been cool and i've been feeling autumn a bit earlier.

I have a lot of Halloween decor, from the cute to the old-school cheesy. I love it all. It's a fun, light-hearted holiday without any forced family obligations. Plus the candy. If you don't like it, fine. But, I don't get the need to come on here and trash it. Because, honestly, I don't really care.

Ours are up. Usually I would wait another week or two, but October is going to be really busy with several unpredictable factors. I had time this weekend and my kids and I love them (DH tolerates them...) so I figured there was no harm. We didn't do anything except a few pumpkins last year since our house was on the market. Sorry if my early decorations bother you!

Personally I wish we would return to the tradition of dressing and decorating scary and frightening, instead of like, dressing up as Cinderella and going trick or treating at the mall. That's just so sad.

And who are we kidding? Christmas is the reason there's a holiday season in the Western world.

Halloween is in the month of October so I wait until that month has started at least to decorate. Plus it is weird to up those decorations when it is this warm outside. Just because the stores had them up in July doesn't mean I have to do what they do. Next weekend I might put them up.

It just makes sense to give it thirty days, more or less, to decorate.

Anytime in September just seems waay too early to think about pumpkins, ghosts and witches.

Yesterday I saw a black widow in my garage though......AHHH!!!!

The commercialism around all of this stuff just gets worse every year (and has been for generations). I agree with the PP who wishes the winter holiday stuff would wait until after Thanksgiving.

Fun for kids!!! Pottery Barn has some 'tasteful' ones.

My neighborhood breaks out the scary ones on actual Halloween night. I'm always impressed. My boys LOVE it!

I also love 'Fall' decorations. Got great ideas in Oldtown last year.
