Also, after 16 (when the turn to letters), the children are required to pass a writing component in addition to the reading. Lots of children can master the 16 (end of year benchmark for 1st) early, but the writing piece takes a while so they get stuck. An "N" at the beginning of first means your child is already passing the writing piece which is really impressive for that age.

PP, depends what level your daughter is at. The amount of comprehension and writing seems to increase they higher you go. My son could read very long chapter books going into K but it took until partway through 2nd before he could write anywhere near close to testing to that reading level.

Reason I'm asking is cause my DC can decode and speaks with fluency at a high level, but comprehends and writes at a much lower level. I'm curious how DC will be tested in reading.
