YES! I read everything under the sun, but thats just my personality. I wish I could have been one of those happy go lucky types but thats just not me.

I read all about pregnancy and delivery, and nothing about what to expect AFTER the baby comes. I recommend mixing it up!

If you want it to be all you focus on, it will. I think its great to be excited about your pregnancy, but this all consuming focus often leads to unrealistic expectations, and junk like 15 page birth plans that fall to floor as soon as stuff gets real.
Agree, prep for BFing if you want to, and lining up kiddo care/help. That is the stuff that counts, and stuff you do not have time to think about once little one is here.

Yes, and then raising your child will consume you for the next two decades.

I found a lot of what I read helpful. It probably depends on the person and on what you are reading!

Anonymous wrote:Yes, if you let it. There's an unlimited amount of stuff that you can read. Almost none of it is actually helpful.

+1

It's too easy to focus on preg/birth. My advice to all ftms now ( baby is 7 wks) is to prep for breastfeeding.

+1000 to this!

Congrats to you both!!!

Even if this is all you do for the next nine month, just think how educated you will be when your new bundle of joy arrives. No parents will be as educated as you.

I read a lot in the beginning, then by about 12 weeks it reduced to just reading this board daily and those "Your pregnancy at week x" websites once every other week or so, I'm 32 weeks now and thinking about labor, so the reading/interest has started to pick up again.

Very normal. It's worse when you're on your 3rd or 4th and you've already read everything more than once! lol Although, they do come up with some new stuff from time to time. I recorded and watched EVERY bringing home baby and Birth day ...and that was with my 4th! Occasionally I forget I am pregnant for a few minutes, but not often.

What would be the one book you would read?

YOU are pregnant. Your partner is not.
