Lifetime Athletic in Rockville (Seven Locks Road) $170/couple and $20 per kid for the kid room. Ugh. Unfortunately it is the closest to our house which means we actually go regularly. We were unable to keep the momentum when we went to other gyms farther away. We are definately paying for the convenience.

Don't forget that gyms are like the phone companies. They treat new customers better than loyal ones. Sometimes you need to Change places to keep the deal reasonable.

I pay $49.99/month no contract at 24 hour fitness in Tysons with ability to access all other 24 hr fitness facilities. $5/kid for child care...and ofcourse, 24 hour access.

Decided against it b/c the babysitting looked like a nightmare and there are a bunch of bad reviews on Yelp, including about thefts (both from lockers and cars).

This is a good thread. You make a good point. When I was looking, every time after I left I got a call saying come back in right now, they found a better deal. I think they count on impulse buys and a lack of transparency in pricing....

2d the good thread comment. We just moved here and plan to join sport & health since it's 2 blocks from our house. We used the numbers here and they waived all the starting junk fees and gave us a $45 rate (Reston) when they saw we had some research.

It's bs!

I got the $39 card fee waived. It's all in who you talk to you and how bad they want the business. Also, negiotated personal training sessions.

Fitness Evolution in Sterling is 10 per month. Very basic, clean and simple....

I saw that WSC is 30/month for access to 1 location or $49/month for access to multi-locations.

I pay $30 per month at LA fitness, but that's with a contract. A friend of mine pays $40 per month without. I've heard it's a pain in the a$$ to cancel your membership so if you can go without a contract for that price it's probably worth it.

FWIW, you get what you pay for there. la fitness does a really crappy job at maintaining the gym- the silver spring location has really gone downhill since I started there and I'm about to bail. The smell is atrocious- there is no ventilation system to speak of and the old crappy carpet desperately needs to be replaced. Everything is grimy and some of the same weight lifting machines and spin bikes have been broken for years.

Not true. They just raised it to $20/kid

If we are current members, do we have to pay that or do we keep paying the 6$/kid?
