Mangoes, pears, blueberries, grapenuts cereal with a little sugar, and lots of water/diluted juice keep us regular over here!

Fruits and veggies with every meal. Avoid BRAT foods (Banana, rice, apple, toast). Magnesium citrate added to juice, epson salt baths, lots of liquids, lots of pears.

We too have been to the ER numerous times for horrible GI issues/constipation. Have even had my child admitted for endoscopy that came back fine. We recently had a doctor tell us that my child's constipation is due to mitochondrial dysfunction. We seem to be doing much better now that DC is on a strict diet and taking a "mito cocktail." Another thing to rule out is food intolerance. Gluten and dairy are big offenders and the best way to tell is a trial elimination diet.

Cultrelle for Kids!.

It's in the children's medicine aisle at CVS. It's natural probiotics - just add maybe 1/2 packet to a cup of milk.

I cannot believe I am the first person to mention the best/most obvious answer.

My holistic doctor recommended Magnesium. She recommended it b/c she says kids dont get enough of it in a multivitamin or foods and it's necessary to absorb Vitamin D and calcium.

The good side effect of increased magnesium is it helps A LOT with constipation! My kid was always constipated and now I give him 1/4 teaspoon of powdered magnesium in his juice each day and it keeps him regular and he is doing SO MUCH BETTER. I get an the Calm Magnesium drink - you can get it at MOMs organic market or on Amazon.com. It's powder sweetened with stevia. I take it myself as well.

Miralax is polyethylene glycol.

You might want to try a magnesium supplement, or use Epsom salts in the bath water. If the child is constipated, you can have the child drink water and Epsom salts. You can also try Milk of Magnesia.

Miralax does nothing for my kid. We use magnesium in one of the above forms.
