But, this is a green school. These parents would be metro, bus and riding their bikes. Right? They won't add to the carbon footprint.

No, no bikes and certainly not for kids. No bike lanes and too much traffic. You are asking for trouble.

I would transfer from my current immersion charter to MV because of the new location if 1) I received a spot thru the lottery and 2) if they didn't have an early release day on Wednesday.

The p6 bus also goes right over there and goes near RI Ave, Metro Center, Gallery Place, Archives, Southwest, etc. It will be worse for some families and better for others.

Good luck playing the lottery when it's your time!

Yes, even from North Capital where I would be coming from is backed up from Florida Ave. to Michigan Ave. We are really hoping to stay, but it may not work out for us. We will play the lottery for other DCPS and Charter Spanish immerison schools.

MV should have the money to pay for a bus, since the teachers aren't getting paid that much.

MV is starting an exploratory committee (of parents) regarding these issues. As far as I know (as a MV parent) there are no definite plans yet although many parents have expressed interest. There is also a push to get the MTA to add/re-reroute bus lines to make the connection from the current area (where many families are located and walk/take public trans to (I believe the number is over 50%) to the new location.

A lot of the families that go to MV seem to walk (or metro). So if that is not an easy solution for them, you may see some.
