You have to help DC learn to care about turning in his work and taking pride in it. Everyone has worked at their job with people who are lazy, don't care about the quality of their work, or just don't get it.

This is not an AAP problem, it's an individual issue.

^ that's because so many parents are doing their kids homework. Literally. It is quite blatant sometimes how perfect, even professionally done these projects look. No way a kid did them.

If you use Kiss and Ride put the homework folder in your son's hands as he is getting out of the car. That will increase the chances of the homework being turned in.

The acronym (look at the title of this forum) is AAP.
AA is commonly recognized on DCUM as referring to African American.

There's nothing wrong with supporting your kid's executive functioning skills until the lightbulb goes on (around 8th or 9th grade in our case).

What worked for us was a strict "no loose papers" policy- everything had to be in a folder, preferably one of the single zipper or elastic closure ones. The very last thing we did before drop off was check folders for homework and remind him to turn in, and at pick up I didn't leave the parking lot until I checked his backpack to make sure he'd done it.
