Do you have a connection with Scottish culture, on days that are not Halloween? Then you can wear a Highland Lass costume. Does your neighbor have a connection with German culture, on days that are not Halloween? Then your neighbor can wear Lederhosen as a costume. See how that works?

No that's not how it works. People wear Eddie Murphy costumes as Akeem with the tam and vest. Ever see his movie Coming to America? How many guys have worn Braveheart? Should those with Scotts ancestors tell their friends of Asian or AA descent they can't go as part of the Braveheart group?

Shorter PP: it's ok to be offensive, if other people are being more offensive.

Is it insensitive to dress a white child in full African garb or as an African tribesman? If you answer yes, then don't dress up your child like an Asian, American Indiana, etc. you are making a mockery.

OP, I think it's fine as long as you don't put her in make-up to make her look more Asian.

Why?

Because its disrespectful.

How's that disrespectful? Is a cowboy costume disrespectful?

Cowboy isn't a heritage or a culture.

My friends in Wyoming and Arizona and Texas would beg to differ.

Sorry Halloween is yet another USA Holiday that offends people.

Hawaiin Shirts are sold out in large and XL.

As well as Spanish descent in California with how to be Zorro and not have a license for the name:

How about those Italians?

Yes. It's cultural appropriation. "And for Halloween, I'm dressing up as a stereotype of people from your country/culture!"

I know, right.
It was so much fun and so much easier when you could demean and marginize other cuter and races for your own amusement.
Now we actually have to think before we act, dang PC mind police.

I have a kimono that a colleague sent me for my DD (I work for a Japanese company). Can't wait to put her in it. I don't think it's offensive at all. If I saw a kid in a costume from my culture, I'd actually be pretty impressed.

A geisha is a profession, too. And it's not a prostitute like a lot of people may think.

It is not? Think it is disrespectful because it's kind of like stereotyping a minority group. If whites were a minority and were not on the top of the food chain globally, wearing a cowboy costume might also seem disrespectful.
