Chef's table course at Yuzu was amazing. Thu-Sat only.

SEI is trendy but I don't think their sushi is that good. Feels like they are trying too hard to be creative but the end result doesn't taste that great. Other food is ok and I actually like their cocktails (tequila with ginger and strawberries--yes please!!!).

For top notch sushi, I vote Taro.

Not the PP, but SEI is a downtown spot. Very trendy. I think the food is good and the sushi rolls are creative, but not the best sushi around. Definitely worth trying.

They validate parking, not too hard to drive down there from Bethesda.

This. The chef prepares everything for you in a private room. Amazing. Best meal in years, and we go for my birthday each year now.

Sushi Taro tasting menu. Kaz isn't really that special. Raku is not a 10 year anniversary night.

However, Makoto is also intimate and awesome on MacArthur Blvd. Then, there is a very small, hip one that's gotten raves around U St - http://sekidc.com/. Downside is no reservations for small groups.

I think Sushi Taro is the only place in the area good enough for a big anniversary.

Haven't been to Makoto in a while, but the owner just passed away a few days ago.
