Thirding the recommendation of bagged fresh vegetables. These aren't always worth it to me, but the soup starter/mirepoix (onions, carrots, celery) ones are super handy, and they have a lot of interesting washed & bagged greens (kale, baby beet greens, collards, chard). We also love their pretzel rolls and the subs are good. The beer selection is pretty great, though I don't know how this works in the Maryland stores? (We always go to Woodbridge or Fairfax.)

I shop at only two stores: Wegmans and Costco. Costco is still cheaper for some items that Wegmans does not carry in a bulk pack, but they have a surprising number of bulk items to compete with Costco and the prices are competitive. The only things I would avoid at Wegmans are their prepared foods (which, like prepared foods at any grocery store, are pricey) and bread, which is absurdly marked up. I have not compared their prices on health and beauty items so I can't comment on that, but on non-prepared food, they have better prices on most items than any store I've tried other than Target ... but Target has crappy produce and a terrible selection, so it's not worth it to me to make a trip there every week to save 30 cents on a few items. I like that Wegmans has everyday low prices instead of sales. I don't like to menu plan based on sales, but at Safeway, Harris Teeter or Giant the prices are ridiculous *unless* you buy stuff on sale. I can get exactly what I need at Wegmans every week without fail for a consistent price. Works for me!

Plus, Wegmans is the most pleasant shopping experience I've had other than Whole Foods. The store I go to (in Gainesville, VA) is HUGE, clean, well organized, with a second to none selection. I was amazed and all the friends I've taken there have been amazed by it too.

Agree with the pp about the freshly cut veggies. I also really love their pizza. You get a huge pie for about $12.

I am a Wegmans devotee. I love their coconut macaroon cookies in the bakery (not macaroons, cookies, but they taste just like macaroons and have the lightest texture). Their iced sugar cookies and sheet cakes are also awesome. Honestly, anything in the bakery. My DH loves their Marco Polo bread.

Their meat selection is really good. We get ribeyes from there almost every weekend to grill.

Everything. Everything is great. Even things like household supplies are less expensive and their own brand is reliable and cheap. I buy Wegmans brand swiffer refills.
Their roasted chickens are fabulous.
We go to the Lanham store. I prefer fairfax but this is much closer and it being next to a Costco is helpful (cheap gas!)

Their store brand organic stuff (butter, cottage cheese etc) is much cheaper than name brand.
