If you can, try to get involved with Boosters too. You could meet some pleasant parents whose kids could have similar interests. The Basis Boosters parents I've met are very friendly and open to meeting for "playdates" of a sort in which the kids hang out or go somewhere together and the parents chat about the school. It's a good way to compare notes about the classes and social aspects of Basis.
Try some of the Basis social activities, too, like tonight's Teaism event (which is already over), the upcoming potluck and the Nats games (you can still get on the waitlist). Dances will be held throughout the year, starting with the Halloween Dance. My introverted DS had a great time.
teasim event is not over. it is Monday. It was listed in an email this past week.

Anonymous wrote:I'm not OP, but 11:47's comments were horrid and mean-spirited and completely uncalled for. It was a perfectly reasonable request and your flame-out response just marks you to be a bitter, nasty person. And if I had to guess, you're the same person who is forever criticizing parents for making a school change in 5th grade because you can't stand to see them pull out of your DCPS elementary of choice and not seriously considering the DCPS middle school you are endlessly promoting.

Not true, not this year anyway.
