haven't looked at the other replies but what about a starry sky and crescent moon?

I took a piece of posterboard and printed out photos of my son with different members of our family. He loved it!

I was thinking of putting plywood between the mattress and the slats. But I am concerned about ventilation and possible mold. How about a large sheet of pegboard, painted white? The holes should provide ventilation, no?

When I was in about 3rd grade, I had the top bunk and my little sister the bottom. I got out of bed to use the bathroom, and when I climbed back up the top bunk mattress fell onto the bottom bunk.

Fortunately for my sister she happened to be curled up into the corner where the mattress met the wall, so she was completely unscathed.

I would never put plywood under a top bunk mattress after that experience.
