Why would you let your dog in someone else's yard, poop or no poop? If you can't keep your dog off of private property, leash it. I don't wander around my neighbor's yards without their permission--why is your dog doing that?

Your dog should not be in other people's yard. If they wanted a dog shitting in their yards, they would have gone to the pound and gottne their own.

There is absolutely no reason an owner should let their dog get into someone else's yard beyond the area right next to the public sidewalk. To let your dog get all the way up to someone else's front door is rude and unacceptable.

I am a dog person and agree with OP. That's bad dog-owner behaviour. Curb your dog and don't wander and malinger on someone's property. We have a dog who gives enough warning you have time to put down a bag so he poops in it with no clean-up needed. Unless you are doing this, yes there will quite often be poop remnants.

I would NEVER do the moth ball thing because it's a digusting smell, to dogs or humans. I wouldn't want to have to have one of those little 'no dogs' signs but I think I'd have to if it was a constant problem.

I'm with OP. I don't have a dog, I don't want dogs up on my lawn by my door pooping. I don't care how well the owner removes it, there's remnants, and then my kid still gets poop on her shoes when she walks in the grass.

Wildlife is a totally different story, and generally, I"ve never seen a bear crap near my doorstep.

No, a dog is not wildlife but shit is shit. Its like worrying about a single drop of rain in the middle of a thunderstorm. At least the dog owner removes the dog's shit. The homeowner either removes the rest or it becomes lawn fertilizer and food for insects, etc. Circle of life and all.

I can't wait to wear shoes in OP's house next time I come over.
