Yes I have to agree I have observed this too in the law firm where I work. It is a "Jewish thing" and I can see how it could make someone uncomfortable but I am sure no harm is meant.

Jewish and from NY.

They're checking you out and sizing you up. They want to see if you are well put together and what are you are wearing.

Parisian women do this too, even more blatantly. It's not an insult.

In France, the old saying is it is is an insult when other women stop looking.

I have to side with OP. I am not Jewish or Irish. Italian here. But I went to grad school with a large number of Jewish people many who became my good friends (fiance is half Jewish) but I agree. I have seen them do this many many times. Only a few times did it make me uncomfortable but yes, it does happen. Not a big deal though.

Or jealous. Consider that.

People seriously need to lighten up and laugh at themselves a bit more. The only ones this silly argument would affect are those who are guilty as charged.

Sorry I am Jewish and do not get what the fuss is about. I will tell you unequivocally that YES Jewish women do this far more than their non Jewish counterparts. Does it make them bad people? Absolutely not.

My own mother does it for Petes sake...I have called her out on it many times, and we laugh about it sometimes. It is not just a NY thing, I have l lived in San Francisco, DC and NY and can attest that YES Jewish women DO do this. Sorry ladies. No need to get testy, lets just chalk it up to our fine taste and making sure others "pass muster" LOL.

I did ask one of them and she actually agreed with me and her response I swear was "Its a Jewish thing" and laughed....we both laughed! I did not mean it to imply anything and anyone who is being overly sensitive needs to toughen up!!!!

I am Irish and when I hear the drinking jokes, I laugh too...because I know while many Irish love to drink it doesn't apply to me.

You are making it worse. Citing your friends who fall in to your particular group is what people who are racist do - I can't possibly be racist because I have an African American friend... Just apologize and be quiet.

By the way, this isn't a religion question. There's no verse in the Torah that tells us "Thou Shalt Look Upon the Garments Of the Gentile With an Up and Downward Eye Motion."

Just have to get a dig in, don't you?

What dig??

IMHO, the dig was OP's question.
