haha, nice try. Have you looked at the resumes of successful doctors and lawyer here in DC? So many GW grads. Not so many those state schools.

I guess you've never heard of an urban campus? They exist. You should learn about them--just so you sound informed.

JHU- Great for smart, well-prepared STEM students. In terms of safety, typical for an urban university. Charles Village really isn't scary.

UNC-CH- Strong national reputation. Good choice for a student who doesn't know where he/she wants to settle down.

GW- Good regional university, good place to make local connections, could be a good choice for a student who knows he/she wants to stay in this area.

What road are you on that JHU is middle of the road. You must be on River Road. Sorry but if you listed all the colleges in the United States and took the ones in the middle these would not be there.

We visited UNC with my son a few years ago & loved it. He was accepted, but as is typical with OOS students, he wasn't offered merit funds & passed on attending. Still, it was near the top of his list--really outstanding programs.

I take it you already know the downsides to early decision and are committed to funding the education without guaranteed merit aid?

These 3 schools are not "middle of the road" (imo.)
Even if they were, everyone has different academic abilities, and things they look for in a school.

My dad went to JHU, and majored in poly sci, and loved it---the campus is beautiful, top-notch academics, and Baltimore is significantly improving..

In this order:

JHU
UNC
GW

Um, what? GW and UNC are "middle of the road" but Johns Hopkins is ranked #13 in the country, among the likes of the elites and the Ivies. To lump these schools together is hilarious. GW in particular. (And their law school is "elite"? Compared to American, maybe!)

All three are obviously great schools and each offer the program she is looking for. What is your impression of these schools?

GW = fabulous! DH got his JD there. Profs there are friendly and brilliant!
JH = Excellent. I know people who've gone both to main campus and SAIS. They were very proud.
UNC = Unfamiliar. Sorry.
